Welcome to Vet Care Vera Plaza, our veterinary clinic, conveniently located near the Consum, in Vera Playa. Here we provide you with the best possible quality health care for your pet. Our mission is to help your pet in a compassionate, and efficient way. We create a soothing environment and a scheduling system that never keeps you waiting long. By combining the latest technology with traditional techniques, we give your pet the best care. We have sufficient parking space available including an emergency parking (yellow cross).

Aert Jorna, Veterinary surgeon.
Hi, I am Aert Jorna. I am a veterinarian for 30 years now. I had a practice in the Netherlands for 25 years. My love for animals started when I was young. We were raised with two lovely cats and a funny parakeet. On holidays you could find me on my grandparents farm. At home we have one great Bearded collie, Blitz.
As a vet I’m pretty allround and I have a lot of experience. I will treat your hairy friends: like your dog, cat, rabbit, rodent and ferret with professional health care and warm attention. I’m also capable of treating the feathered ones: your chicken, pigeon and parrot. Passionate quality health care for my patients and their owners is my goal!
After a working day I like to jump on my bike or run through the fields.

Hello my name is María, I am a veterinary assistant and these are my dogs, Pepa and Bruno.
I have always liked animals a lot, but since Pepa appeared in my life, I knew that I wanted to focus my work on them. I really like taking care of them, helping them and giving them the best of me.
I love working at the clinic. For instance, I enjoy the contact with customers and I really like doing dental works!

My name is Camila and these are my babies, Kay, Trufa, Ares and Kiwi. Since I was a little girl I have always surrounded by animals and they have always a special place in my heart. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do with my life but now I know that this is what makes me happy. Being around animals, helping them to get better and waking up every morning knowing that I am doing something good makes me feel at peace.
I am the happiest when I am with my babies, going on long walks or to the beach and watching them enjoy the water or stying at home cuddling in the sofa.

My name is Laura, I am a dog groomer and veterinary technical assistant.
These two are part of my family, they are called Ona and Pepito. I picked up Ona abandoned from the street one cold winter. For years I have collaborated with several protectors at a private level to achieve the well-being and happiness of the animals and my own. My life has always been linked to animal life in general since I have lived with cats, horses and birds among other pets since I was very young. I have been able to make my passion my job!

My name is Mario and I have been a veterinarian since 2015. I have worked in different parts of Spain and started in January 2023 working at this clinic. Every day that I spend in this clinic I am happier with my choice.
I have several pets, like my dog Trueno and my ferret Pepita. In my free time I like gardening and I am also a beekeeper.

Health Care Examination
Regular full body check-ups are important to your pet’s well-being.
If your pet is visiting our vets, it gets a quick but soothing and thorough full body examination. The examination is quick, because our main goal is to examine our patients, your pets, in the most stressless way as possible. Concerning the treatment of your pet, it is our goal to use first-choice antibiotics to prevent resistance.
In our clinic you will find separated areas for dogs and cats. We only do consultations by appointment to keep the number of animals in the waiting area as low as possible. We work cat-friendly.
We also examine rabbits, rodents, ferrets and birds. We have a lot of dental experience for your little friends.
Dental Cleanings & Dental X-Ray
Dental health care means regular inspections of the teeth of your pet. Although, regular is different for every single animal! Pets are very good in hiding signs of dental diseases. Pets with clean teeth need an inspection at least once a year, but pets with tartar need an inspection 2-4 times a year. More frequent inspections are necessary when your cat has the Feline Gingivitis Stomatitis syndrome or when your rabbit or guinea pig gets smaller droppings or stops eating!
We are very pleased to offer digital dental x-rays for all our dental procedures.
X-ray and Ultrasound
Accurate diagnostics rely on clear imaging and Vet care Vera Plaza is equipped with digital radiology and ultrasound.
Ultrasound is a harmless, non-invasive way of imaging the internal soft tissue structures of the body.
Preventive Health Care
For monitoring the well being of your pet we recommend you to visit our clinic at least once a year. Then we will examine your pet and administer the mandatory Rabies vaccination.
Pups and kittens we like to see at 2,3,5,7 and 12 months of age. Then we can give their required vaccinations to prevent the severe viral diseases like Parvo, distemper and contagious hepatitis and the protection for Leptospirosis, a bacterial infection. We can also advise you on alimentation, education, castration, teeth, hips and anti-parasitic treatment.
Cats and dogs are the ideal hosts to worms and other parasites. They could be silent causes for many pet problems and cause extensive internal damage without noticing your pet is infected.
Emergency and Urgent care
Emergencies can be scenarios such as car accidents, eating chocolate or foreign body ingestion etc. If you feel that your pet requires emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or attend the clinic. After closing hours please call:

In-House Laboratory Diagnostics and Cytology
In a lot of cases, laboratory tests are required for a more accurate diagnosis. We work with the high quality Idexx equipment for our in house laboratory and do the external analysis at the laboratory of Idexx Barcelona. We offer a wide range of blood tests in-house as well as stool and urine tests.
Dog and Cat Friendly Hospitalization
Surgery
In our clinic you will find separated recovery and hospitalization areas, so sick animals can’t infect the healthy ones after their surgery. Those areas are also separated for dogs and cats, which is more soothing for them: Our clinic is Cat-Friendly!
Rabbits and guinea pigs will stay in the cats’ areas.
For ferrets we will create a specific time schedule so that there will be no interference.
For severe infectious diseases, like Parvo, we have a separate quarantine room.
Before any surgery we want to examine your pet thoroughly, because there is no sedation without risk! At the examination we prefer to take a blood sample for a biochemical analysis: to check if the organs are healthy. According to the result we will adjust the way of sedation. Every pet gets oxygen and will be connected to an IV drip during surgery. All these measures will minimize the risk of sedation.
We perform all kind of soft tissue surgery and develop our orthopedic skills on and on.
We now offer laser therapy! Veterinary laser therapy is a non-invasive, painless, surgery-free and drug-free treatment that is used to treat a variety of conditions, and can be performed in combination with existing treatments.

Microchipping
All cats and dogs require microchipping as part of the Municipality registration process in Spain and can help you, or others to find your pet if they disappear. Our clinic offers Municipality Tags and Microchipping.

Shop with High Quality Pet Food and Anti Parasitics
In our shop we only sell quality products: the alimentation of Hills, Natural Greatness and Royal Canin. Hills and Royal Canin are the highest standards of alimentation on a scientific basis.
Natural Greatness might be less known, but serves your pets with natural, no grain food.
You can get your anti-parasitic treatment on prescription.
Besides alimentation we sell several products that make your pets comfortable. We sell Harnesses of Tre Ponti, very well fitted for every size dog. Snacks, Toys and Mattresses of excellent quality. And if we don’t have what you are looking for we can order it for you.
Dog Grooming
Since 2022 we are the proud owners of a grooming salon separate from our clinic. We wanted to be separate because of hygiene issues.
We only use high standard products to avoid allergic reactions.
Besides the normal grooming, cutting and stripping we also provide ozone therapy. This is especially helpful for animals with skin problems.
